The Orange County Health Care Agency invites community members to drop-off expired, unused, and unwanted prescription medications on National Take Back Day, taking place on Saturday, April 27th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Medications can be dropped off free of charge and anonymously at locations throughout Orange County, including City Halls, Orange County Sheriff Departments, and Police Stations. This initiative, created by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), addresses a vital public safety and public health issue by reducing the risk of accidental poisonings and overdoses. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse.
To locate a collection site near you, please visit the DEA’s website at https://takebackday.dea.gov/. The drop-off service is free and anonymous. To learn more about drug abuse prevention efforts in Orange County or to find drop-off locations available year-round, visit www.ochealthinfo.com/adept.
