If you want a front-row seat to a national swim competition, consider volunteering as a swim meet timer for the 2019 USMS Summer National Championship, happening August 7th through August 11th at Mission Viejo’s Marguerite Aquatics Center. Two timers are paired up in each lane. One holds a stop watch to time the swimmer’s race, while the other timer jots down the finishing time on the heat sheet. Both timers are responsible for pressing the stop button once the swimmer touches the wall. Although it is a simple job, timers are necessary to run a meet. It is a fun job that allows volunteers to see some fast racing in the first row. For more information and to register as a volunteer, contact 949-380-2552 or vivian@mvnswim.org.
