Laguna Beach May increase patrols at Main Beach and Heisler Park

The Laguna Beach Police Department may increase its presence at Main Beach and Heisler Park.

Mayor Pro Tem Steve Dicterow says the City Council tonight will consider adding additional patrols at these areas because many people are afraid to visit them due to criminal activity.

He says if approved, the Police Department will gauge the success of the program and if it results in the reduction in calls for service, the City Council will consider the future of the program during the budget process.

Tonight’s City Council meeting begins at six.
