California man charged with threatening college shooting
A 31-year-old Pomona man has been charged with threatening to shoot up a college that was locked down for hours as police searched the campus.
Terrell Bennett is charged with making criminal threats and illegally possessing ammunition.
Prosecutors say Bennett called police Tuesday and made threads toward Citrus College in Glendora, 30 miles east of Los Angeles.
The threat sparked a lockdown that lasted more than six hours as students and staff barricaded in classrooms.
Police later arrested Bennett inside a campus building without incident. Police said he may have been trying to commit suicide by cop.
He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the charges.
