Mission Viejo’s new Mayor will set priorities
Mission Viejo’s new Mayor Greg Raths has many goals this year and he’ll go over them in detail during tomorrow’s Council meeting.
One of them is setting up a Veteran’s Memorial Garden. He’s looking at an area near Lake Mission Viejo, where there’s a statue of a fallen soldier of a rifle with his helmet on top and his boots.
He says other priorities are negotiations for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department contract. He says it goes up about eight to ten percent each year and so far, costs the city 19 million dollars.
Raths says Mission Viejo will also be negotiating a contract for waste hauling services for next year as the current ten year contract with Waste Management expires at the end of this year. And other waste hauling companies are interested in perhaps doing it for the city.
Tomorrow’s City Council meeting begins at six in the evening.
