San Clemente will seek to have hospital open at former hospital site

The San Clemente City Council will eventually seek to have a hospital and emergency room in the site where one closed three and a half years ago.

City Councilwoman Laura Ferguson says the Council has asked a consultant to return in several weeks with a Request for Proposals that will could go out to health providers interested in operating a hospital with an emergency room.

She says in a settlement agreement with Memorialcare there’s an objective which allows the city to seek a provider to open a hospital and emergency room at its former site.

The next council meeting is Dec. 3rd.
