California considers requiring zero emission truck sales

California could become the first state to require a portion of new truck sales be zero emission vehicles. The proposed rule would result in roughly 74,000 zero emission trucks on the road in California by 2030. That would be 4% of all trucks. The California Air Resources Board had a public hearing yesterday to discuss the proposed rule. The board won't vote on the proposal until next year. Some environmental groups want the rule to be stronger. Some trucking groups say the rule is too strong and want to narrow it to apply to fewer trucks.
