Orange County Coastkeeper

For 20 years, Orange County Coastkeeper has been working to safeguard Orange County’s 42 miles of coastline and hundreds of miles of streams and rivers.

Founder and President Garry Brown says for many years, the organization has been involved with marine restoration. It’s been growing kelp in laboratories and taking them out to put on reefs from the South Jetty of Newport Beach to Dana Point.

He says kelp is the habitat for over 800 species of fish

Brown says Orange County Coastkeeper also educates children in about 40 schools and puts on a watershed education program that follows the STEM curriculum.

He, along with Associate Director of Programs Ray Hiemstra are the guests on our public affairs show “Collage” which airs this evening at seven. “Collage” may also be heard anytime on www.Jazz885.org.
