California bar: Avenatti stole from client using 'deceit'

The California State Bar says attorney Michael Avenatti should be prevented from practicing law because he stole a client's settlement funds and covered his tracks through deceit. The bar's attorney said Avenatti poses a threat to clients and the public if he continues to perform legal work. Avenatti called the proceedings in Los Angeles a "dog and pony show" and a "complete joke." The lawyer best known for representing porn actress Stormy Daniels in lawsuits against President Donald Trump is facing trial in New York and California on charges he tried to extort millions of dollars from Nike and has stolen from multiple clients.
