Facial recognition for travelers
It's one thing to have your photo taken at an international airport by a family member or friend. But how would you feel if it were the federal government taking photos of you when you travel? Federal officials are considering requiring all travelers — including American citizens — to be photographed as they enter or leave the country. The photos would be used as part of an identification system using facial-recognition technology. Some U.S. airlines are already testing the system at some airports on a voluntary basis. But critics are already raising objections. Sen. Edward Markey from Massachusetts says he will introduce legislation to block the Department of Homeland Security proposal.
