Ex-Pasadena policeman sentenced for illegal gun dealing

A former Pasadena police lieutenant is going to federal prison for illegally selling more than 100 guns.

Vasken Gourdikian was sentenced to a year and a day in prison. He also was fined $10,000.

Authorities say that over a three-year period, Gourdikian used his status as a police officer to buy restricted guns that can't normally be sold to the general public, then resold them without a gun dealer's license.

He also was able to use his position to skip the usual 10-day waiting period for firearms purchases.

The Pasadena Star-News reports Gourdikian expressed remorse during the sentencing hearing.
