Authorities say an employee of the Anaheim Police Department was taken to the hospital in critical condition after her vehicle was struck by man suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.

The Orange County Register reports the traffic control assistant was ejected from her marked vehicle after a pickup truck hit her from behind Saturday afternoon.

Police Sgt. Daron Wyatt says the employee was performing traffic control duties across from Servite High School in Anaheim.

Police arrested 34-year-old Jose Garcia from Placentia, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs causing great bodily injury and additional traffic and drug charges.

Police say Garcia was involved in another wreck about an hour before.
