Children’s Bureau

With a report of child abuse every 10 seconds, parents need help now more than ever in raising their children successfully.

The Children’s Bureau is a nonprofit organization that’s been around 115 years with a mission to protect vulnerable children through prevention, treatment and advocacy.

Bureau President and CEO Ron Brown defines child abuse as anytime a parent maltreats their children either physically, emotionally, or through neglect. It may include ignoring the child’s needs for health care, and education,

Bureau Mental Health Director Susan Wood says abuse can have a long-term impact on a child. The way to alleviate the trauma is through mental health services to help the child process what occurred and that could lead to a happy childhood.

Wood, along with Brown, and Bureau Summer Soiree Committee member Cindy Carter are the guests on our public affairs show “Collage,” which airs this evening at seven. “Collage,” may also be heard anytime on-line www.Jazz885.org
