Laguna Woods will discuss budget reductions
The Laguna Woods City Council will discuss ways to reduce its costs due to the rising increase in law enforcement expenses.
Mayor Cynthia Conners says proposals include reducing travel budgets and conference expenses for the Council and staff; canceling some memberships and organizations, some have dues of over five thousand dollars.
And the city may start to charge for services it has provided for free such as notary services. The proposal is to charge whatever the state rate is.
Another proposal is to pass along to the residents the increased fee of ten dollars that the city will have to pay to have household hazardous waste picked up from homes. She says the city currently pays 140 dollars for each pick up.
Today’s City Council meeting begins at two in the afternoon.
