Laguna Hills awards landscape contract with use of organic pesticides

The Laguna Hills City Council has agreed to award a five year landscape contract to Nieves Landscape and to include an alternative that would use organic pesticides at two parks for a one year test. The parks are Mandeville and Veeh.

Mayor Pro-Tem Janine Heft says the city is concerned about the use of pesticides.

She says Mandeville is located at the south end of Laguna Hills and Veeh is located at the north end of the city. The parks have different soils and they will be tested to determine how organic pesticides impact them.

The cost of the service would be one million dollars a year and the alternative with the use of organic pesticides adds a one-time cost of nearly 26-thousand dollars.
