San Clemente may add rules to its Municipal Code relating to transitional camps
San Clemente homeless may set up tents on city property at the public works yard on Avenido Pico where transitional camping is permitted.
San Clemente City Councilwoman Laura Ferguson says the property was made available in order for the city to enforce its ban on camping on public property.
She says tonight, the Council may codify rules related to transitional camps and add them to the city’s Municipal Code relating to rules for transitional camps.
Under the transitional camp rules, all campers must check-in and register with the on-site security guard upon first arrival to the site; weapons, alcohol and drugs are banned and quiet time will be enforced between ten at night and seven in the morning.
Ferguson says the site has been working well with around 30 homeless people camping on the site.
Tonight’s City Council meeting begins at six.
