San Clemente Council may approve proposed Town Hall meeting

The San Clemente City Council tonight may agree to host a Town Hall meeting next week on homeless issues.

Councilwoman Laura Ferguson is expecting approval for the meeting. She says she and Mayor Pro-Tem Dan Bane have been working to establish the goals of the meeting to provide information and education to the public of available resources and discuss citywide impacts of homelessness.

If approved, the meeting would occur June 12, at the city’s Community Center. Between 5:30 and 6 in the evening there will be booths with different agencies to provide information on homelessness and resources.

The actual forum will go on between 6 and 8 in the evening.

Ferguson says also tonight, the Council may reconsider appointing an interim member to the City Council to serve until a successor is elected November 5th.

Mayor Steven Swartz died on May 8th.

Tonight’s City Council meeting begins at six.
