San Clemente City Council will remain with 4 members

The San Clemente City Council will consist of four members until a Special Election on November 5.

Councilwoman Laura Ferguson says on 2-2 vote, the Council didn’t agree to temporarily fill the vacancy created when Mayor Steven Swartz died on May 8.

Ferguson had nominated the candidate with the next highest number of votes for the Council during last year’s election Gene James.

In other business, Ferguson says the Council did agree to host a Town Hall meeting on homelessness scheduled for Wednesday at the city’s Community Center.

She says booths will be set up between 5:30 and six in the evening outside of the center to provide information on resources. The forum will go on between six and eight in the evening.
