Lake Forest will appoint a replacement for resigned Council member

The Lake Forest City Council has agreed to appoint a replacement for Council member Leah Basile who stepped down because her family will be moving out of the city.

Sr. Communications Marketing Analyst Jonathan Volzke says the Council was advised since Basile was elected at-large, the appointment will be open to anyone living in the city that’s eligible for the position.

He says whomever is appointed will serve the at-large position through November of next year when her term would expire. At that point, the seat will become a district one and only a person living in the district will be eligible to seek election to the seat.

He says staff has been asked to develop an application process for the appointment and bring it back to the Council on Sept. 17.
