Woman tries to pry open mountain lion's jaws to save her dog

Officials say a Southern California woman punched a mountain lion in the head and tried to pry its jaws open when it attacked her dog in her backyard. Police Sgt. Keith Eisenhour told KNBC-TV that the woman suffered a minor cut this morning after the mountain lion attacked her miniature Schnauzer in Simi Valley near Los Angeles. The dog died. The attack happened after a report that another dog was injured in the same area late yesterday. Officials say the mountain lion ran away from the woman's backyard after state wildlife officers arrived.
