Lake Forest will regulate sidewalk vendors

The Lake Forest City Council has given final approval to a proposed ordinance that would regulate sidewalk vendors.

City Senior Communications and Marketing Analyst Jonathan Volzke says the ordinance was drawn up because under state law, cities can no longer ban sidewalk vendors. But they’re allowed to set up regulations to enable sidewalk vending in a healthy and safe manner.

He says the new ordinance goes into effect in 30 days.

He says some of the regulations include the requirement of a city permit, and an Orange County Health permit if food will be sold.
