San Juan Capistrano will negotiate to bring “Glamping” to Northwest Open Space

The San Juan Capistrano City Council has agreed to negotiate exclusively with Red Tail Acquisitions to possibly operate a traditional camping site on the city’s Northwest Open Space area.

Councilman John Taylor says the Council had also considered a winery restaurant proposal.

He says Red Tail is proposing to call its portion of its space the “The Orchards.” It will have different areas of lemon trees and orchards, while offering a luxurious camping experience without getting dirty.

Taylor says while the city negotiates with Red Tail, it will proceed with building the Putuidem Village project, which is a village that would represent the first Native Americans that had occupied the land thousands of years ago.  The city has two million dollars for that project.
