France-Tech-Tax

The U.S. and France are in the midst of a showdown over a looming tax on tech companies. France is going ahead with its plans to impose the tax on high-tech companies like Google and Facebook. And President Donald Trump is threatening to retaliate by imposing tariffs on French wine. That’s causing concern with French winemakers, who sold nearly $2 billion worth of wine last year to American customers. But French officials say they are determined to press forward with the tax, saying it doesn’t target American companies and that taxing digital activities is something that will benefit all countries. The 3% tax mainly deals with companies that use computer data to sell online advertising.
