Laguna Beach will ban the sale vape products

The Laguna Beach City Council has directed city staff to draw up an ordinance banning the sale vape products.

Mayor Pro-Tem Steve Dicterow says every day there’s information about the lack of safety of these products and the way their marketed is a real problem.

He says when the ordinance is in place, the city will become the first one in Orange County to have it.

He says many high school students, medical professionals and Boys and Girls Club representatives had attended the meeting in support of the proposed ordinance. A recent survey indicates 29 percent of high school students’ vape.

Dicterow says testimony indicates if the city makes it difficult to purchase vape products students won’t use them.
