Mission Viejo may buy a golf course

The Mission Viejo City Council tomorrow will discuss purchasing the Casta Del Sol Golf Course.

Mayor Greg Raths says the Pres Company had been in escrow with the golf course’s owner American Golf, but it wanted to have a partnership with the city.

He says the city declined to have the partnership and the Company went out of escrow with American Golf. So the city will be looking to purchase the property without a third party 

Raths says the city wants the property to insure it remains a golf course with open space.

The agenda report indicates the city will purchase the golf course for 13 million dollars.

The property consists of nearly 109 acres, 18-hole public golf course with a large practice putting facility and other excess lands.

Tomorrow’s city council meeting begins at six in the evening.
